1:1 SEND Tutor - Herefordshire

Quantum Scholars is looking for a supportive, patient and reliable 1:1 SEND Tutor to work with a young person in Herefordshire. This is an in-person tutoring role and is not online work.

The role will involve providing personalised educational support to a student who may benefit from a flexible and individualised approach to learning. You will be expected to build a positive and trusting relationship with the student, adapt your teaching to their individual needs and help develop their confidence, engagement and progress.

The role may involve

  • Delivering one-to-one tuition tailored to the student's individual needs
  • Supporting the student across core academic subjects where appropriate
  • Planning engaging and accessible learning activities
  • Adapting teaching approaches to suit different abilities, learning needs and levels of engagement
  • Helping the student develop confidence, independence and positive attitudes towards learning
  • Providing encouragement and consistent support to help the student re-engage with education
  • Monitoring progress and providing appropriate feedback
  • Working collaboratively with parents, carers and relevant professionals where required
  • Maintaining clear and professional communication
  • Following safeguarding procedures at all times
Essential requirements
  • Experience working with children or young people with SEND in an educational, tutoring or support setting
  • Experience providing one-to-one or personalised educational support
  • The ability to adapt learning and teaching approaches to meet individual needs
  • Strong communication, organisation and relationship-building skills
  • A patient, flexible, calm and supportive approach
  • A genuine commitment to helping young people achieve their potential
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
  • Willingness to undertake an enhanced DBS check, where required
  • Satisfactory professional references
  • You must have the right to work in the UK.
