We are looking to recruit a Planning Enforcement Officer on a part‑time (22.2 hours per week), 6‑month fixed term contract to join our friendly and collaborative Enforcement Team within our Development Management Planning Service. You will work closely with the Enforcement team but also the Development Management Officers and other council services such as Built Environment, Natural Environment, Highways and Legal advisors.
You’ll investigate alleged breaches of planning control; undertake site inspections; carry out associated administrative tasks and consultations; undertake negotiations with interested parties and liaise with Councillors, colleagues, and residents. We’re looking for someone with experience in planning or regulatory enforcement, with strong communication skills, and the confidence to negotiate and make clear decisions.
You will have the opportunity to work within the beautiful Herefordshire countryside as well as dealing with casework within the city of Hereford and/or its surrounding market towns and villages. The County is rich in biodiversity, landscape and heritage value including two National Landscapes, Conservation Areas and many listed building buildings. We think it’s a truly outstanding place to work, that will offer the right candidate valuable experience in a wide range of casework and challenges.
The position is based at the council’s modern offices at Plough Lane in Hereford although there will be the opportunity to work flexibly from home. The hours of work are also flexible.
Due to the nature of the job, you will have a current full driving licence. Pool Cars are available for use.
