Introduction

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Waste Management Team at Herefordshire Council. Working within a supportive and ambitious team, you will play a key role in ensuring the successful delivery of the council’s waste collection and disposal services and helping to achieve our environmental objectives.

The Role

Herefordshire Council is looking for an experienced waste contract monitoring officer to join its friendly Waste Management Team. We have an Integrated Waste Strategy with far reaching ambitions and new targets to cut carbon, increase waste minimisation, reuse, recycling and composting activities.

What will you be doing?

Your role will be responsible for analysing performance and using a performance management framework to demonstrate how the services are achieving contractual outcomes. We’re looking for someone who can develop effective partnerships with our contractors through productive client/commissioner and provider relationships to deliver continuous improvement, drive efficiencies and demonstrate value for money. The ability to travel independently around the county is essential.

The working day can involve some early starts and some late finishes. Weekend working is also expected on some occasions.

About You
  • Great analytical skills
  • Be proficient in the use of excel
  • Have experience of monitoring contracts and budgets, specifically within the waste sector would be preferable.
  • The expertise to identify improvements.
  • Experience of working with multiple stakeholders to implement change.

The post is based at Plough Lane in Hereford with the team working from here for 2 days per week and with working from home also current practice.
