Job Summary

We have an exciting opportunity to join our Adult Eating Disorders Team in Herefordshire. The position is permanent and is 0.4 WTE, 15 hours a week.

We are seeking a highly motivated, skilled, registered dietician who has either an interest and/or experience of working with eating disorders and/or mental health. The successful applicant will work within a well‑established multi‑disciplinary team offering specialist support for people living with eating disorders.

The service is a small countywide eating disorder outpatient service that provides clinical management and psychological work for patients with eating disorders. The post holder will be based in Hereford, and applicants must be able to meet the travel requirement for the post. Flexible and hybrid working arrangements are offered, with training opportunities and supervision provided.

Job Responsibilities
  • Accountable for designated caseload, working within an evidenced‑based dietary intervention plan and care programme approach.
  • Undertakes dietetic assessments and manages nutrition risk effectively.
  • Works with patients to identify dietetic goals as part of the overall multidisciplinary team plan.
  • Develops and implements individual and/or group dietetic interventions, in collaboration with the patients and MDT to reach therapeutic goals.
  • Engages patients in dietetic‑related tasks, encouraging them compassionately to achieve their identified goals.
  • Monitors and evaluates dietetic treatment, measuring progress and modifying the intervention plan to ensure effectiveness.
  • Provides reports on patient progress at clinical meetings and participates in clinical decision‑making as part of the multidisciplinary team.
  • Provides advice, education, and training to patients, carers, and other healthcare staff involved in patient care.
  • Works within HCPC Code of Professional Conduct and Professional Standards, accountable for own professional practice, including work delegated to others.
  • Works within occupational policies, procedures and protocols, using discretion as appropriate.
  • Participates in regular clinical supervision.
  • Recognises own limitations and seeks advice and guidance from more experienced colleagues.
Essential Qualifications
  • Degree in Dietetics
  • Evidence of postgraduate qualification training or courses in a relevant area
  • HCPC registration
  • Understanding that original certificates will be required for verification of qualifications at the point of offer.
Desirable Qualifications
  • Eating Disorders qualification (e.g. Diploma in Practitioner Skills for Eating Disorders or equivalent)
  • Psychotherapy qualification (e.g. basic certificate in counselling)
Essential Experience
  • Prior experience of working in nutritional support
  • Experience of working with change behaviour techniques
  • Experience of working in a multidisciplinary team
  • Contribution to audit and research
  • Experience of delivering malnutrition screening training to staff
  • Experience of working with patients with mental health conditions
Desirable Experience
  • Experience working in mental health settings/eating disorders knowledge
  • Evidence of contribution to development of dietetic input within services.
  • An interest in eating disorders and how to work with ambivalence using dietetic knowledge.
Essential Knowledge
  • Up‑to‑date clinical knowledge of the nutritional management of a wide variety of clinical conditions based on current best practice.
