This is a part‑time post working 30 hours per week, working Monday to Friday during standard business hours.
Thanks to additional funding, our Crisis Home Treatment Team is expanding.
We are delighted to offer a new opportunity for a skilled and compassionate Occupational Therapist to join our dynamic, multidisciplinary team. This role will play a vital part in supporting individuals in crisis, helping them regain independence, and promoting recovery in the community.
The CAHTT provides crisis assessment and home treatment to patients experiencing acute mental health difficulties, ensuring care is delivered in the least restrictive environment. We also work closely with inpatient services to facilitate early, planned discharge.
As an Occupational Therapist within CAHTT, you will carry out assessments and deliver home treatment in a variety of settings, including patients' homes in the community and treatment rooms at the Stonebow Unit.
Main dutiesIt can be unpredictable; you may be called at any time for a crisis situation. We discuss referrals each morning and review our caseload three times weekly with our consultant psychiatrist.
We complete comprehensive risk assessments for every patient; these can be completed independently or in discussion with a multi‑disciplinary team for more complex cases.
We liaise with families and carers, GPs, community mental health teams, social care teams, community nurses, physiotherapists and voluntary organisations, and anyone necessary to maximise recovery.

Person SpecificationSkills and Abilities
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English in both verbal and written formats.
- Ability to meet the travel requirements of the role.
- Registered OT
- Practice Placement qualification within one year of appointment
- Postgraduate training relevant to mental health
- Provide original certificates to verify qualifications at point of offer.
- Documented evidence of continuing professional development
- Significant post‑registration experience, including experience within mental health
- Minimum 1 year within related specialty
- Extensive clinical experience including individual and group work
- Experience of a range of mental health settings
- Supervision of junior staff and students
- Leadership and first‑line management experience Knowledge
- Specialist knowledge and application of occupational therapy assessments and interventions relevant to client group.
- Knowledge/experience of audit procedures.
- Understanding of occupational therapy outcome measures.
- Detailed knowledge of mental health legislation and current practice.
- Detailed knowledge of the principles of clinical governance and its application.
This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and will require a submission for Disclosure to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
