Biomedical Scientist

We are looking for an HCPC-registered BMS to join our Microbiology team with experience in NHS Microbiology Laboratory.

Provide patients with the highest standard of diagnosis and treatment by working as part of the Microbiology laboratory team, supplying high quality, specialised microbiological analysis and surveillance.

Be responsible for the effective day‑to‑day running of key laboratory sections and defined sample benches within the laboratory.

Rotate through all areas of the Microbiology laboratory and support the 24/7 service rotas.

• BMS degree or equivalent qualifications and experience
• Evidence of Continuing Professional Development
• Registered with HCPC
• IBMS membership

• Working knowledge of laboratory bench areas
• Knowledge of safety, including infectious diseases, dangerous chemicals/gases and PPE
• Knowledge of laboratory computer systems or equivalent
• Ability to work accurately from written protocols
• Ability to use, control and maintain analytical equipment
• Ability to train and organise less qualified/experienced staff
• Highly developed physical skills to include the use of microscopes, pipettes, balances

• Experience in microbiology
• Expansive knowledge of microbiology
• Experience in NHS laboratory
