To manage all clinics and inpatient waiting lists for designated Consultant(s), arranging TCIs using EPR and other relevant systems.
To be the primary contact for patients under designated Consultant(s), providing reassurance, information or advice appropriately.
To prioritise theatre cases and select appropriate cases for the theatre time schedule to ensure maximum theatre capacity utilisation.
To arrange admissions in line with the Trust's waiting list management protocol and Department of Health Referral to Treatment waiting times.
To routinely validate Consultant(s) waiting list and ensure booking of patients in chronological order.
To ensure that all patient reports and investigation results are brought to the attention of the Consultant.
To act as PA for designated Consultant(s), managing administration / PA typing and organising office procedures.
To sign correspondence on behalf of Consultant and initiate response to correspondence on behalf of the unit.
To ensure patient investigations/results are actioned and discharge letters are sent to GPs.
To 'buddy' with Medical Secretaries and Assistant Medical Secretaries for effective cross-cover.
To organise, prioritise and manage a high workload under pressure and without supervision.
To provide departmental cover and attend departmental meetings.
To use the required electronic systems for correspondence, recording, retrieval and maintenance of information.

We are excited to advertise an opportunity to join our General Surgery Secretarial Team. This is a varied and rewarding role, providing the opportunity to manage clinics and inpatient waiting lists, act as a primary contact for patients, prioritise theatre cases and support the effective management of patient pathways. You will also act as PA for designated Consultants, liaise with patients, GPs and NHS colleagues, manage correspondence and investigations, and organise, prioritise and manage a high workload under pressure and without supervision.
