MandM is evolving its data strategy, combining predictive modelling with advanced business intelligence across finance and data. This role will serve as a bridge between strategic vision and technical execution, managing a dual‑discipline team of senior data professionals to deliver high‑impact predictive models and reporting solutions.
Role Scope- Define, build and own a combined data science and analytics roadmap aligned with company objectives.
- Oversee workload and resource allocation across data science and analytics streams, reporting on team velocity.
- Continuously evaluate new technologies, analytics techniques and industry trends to keep capabilities cutting‑edge.
- Mentor and provide strategic guidance to the Senior Data Scientist and Senior Data Analyst.
- Participate directly in modeling, pipeline development and building advanced reporting frameworks.
- Champion and manage the team’s core toolset, utilising platforms such as Dataiku to streamline model development.
- Establish and enforce best practices for data workflows, version control, MLOps, data quality and security.
- Ensure compliance with data protection policies when handling personally identifiable data.
- Act as the primary bridge between the data team and senior leadership, translating technical concepts into actionable strategies.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional partners and represent the department with credibility.
- Proven strategic leadership experience guiding multi‑disciplinary technical work streams.
- Strong background in both data science and advanced analytics with successful deployments of predictive models.
- Programming skills in Python or R, advanced SQL, and experience with large‑scale data queries.
- Hands‑on experience with end‑to‑end data science platforms such as Dataiku.
- Outstanding communication skills, capable of translating complex model outputs to senior executives.
- Excellent organisational, problem‑solving and project management skills focused on resource allocation and continuous improvement.
