An opportunity has arisen for a motivated individual to work as part of the Clinical Support Division as Health Records and Private Patient Manager. This role would suit an enthusiastic and forward thinking person looking for a challenge in a post that is both interesting and varied.
The Health Records and Private Patient Manager, together with the General Manager, provides the operational management of the Health Records Department and the Private Patient function for the Trust and contributes to the strategic development for the Directorates. This includes ensuring that national and corporate targets / objectives are translated into operational plans and providing clear and consistent leadership to staff in the delivery of those plans.
The Health Records and Private Patient Manager, under guidance from the General Manager, will take operational responsibility for the implementation of service developments including the achievement of the modernisation agenda, clinical governance standards and the implementation of service transformation initiatives.
Main duties of the jobThe successful applicant will have previous experience of leading a team, previous knowledge of Health Records and Private Patient Policies, managing change and resolving complex problems. They should be resilient, organised, work well under pressure and have exceptional communication skills.
They will work closely with the General Manager to ensure the Health Records and Private Patient Policies are adhered to and that all relevant Trust Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) are met. They will also be responsible for personal development planning and learning needs of the staff within their own administrative team, as well as managing any human resource issues by providing direct supervision to the Team Leaders.
Excellent leadership skills and the ability to remain positive in challenging times are essential.
- Extensive, in depth NHS experience in an acute hospital setting
- Proven experience in a Support Manager role (band
6) or equivalent - Educated to degree level or equivalent qualification/equivalent level of experience
- Knowledge of HR Policies and Procedures in NHS
- Clear understanding of the NHS forward view
- Ability to understand and deal with complex issues, problem solve and propose solutions
- Operational/Organisational skills and ability to prioritise work under pressure
- Experience of project management methodology and its application
- Ability to analyse, create and present highly complex information and to develop practical and workable solutions.
- Ability to plan and think tactically and creatively and to prioritise work programmes in the face of competing demands
- Ability to manage and deliver to deadlines and within resources
- A good understanding of the changing NHS environment
- Ability to collaborate constructively with internal and external partners to create the conditions for successful partnership working
- IT literate with ability to use all Microsoft Office applications
- Ability to be intellectually flexible and to look beyond existing structures, ways of working, boundaries and organisations to produce more effective and innovative service delivery and partnerships
- Experience of service re-design, workforce planning, change and demand management.
- Understanding and experience of NHS Performance Management Systems
- Experience of financial management and budgetary control.
- Evidence of success in the management of multi-disciplinary environment
- Demonstrable success in delivering change and performance with and through your teams, by engaging them in development and delivery plans, establishing clear work priorities with them, delegating effectively, ensuring a capability to deliver, monitoring performance and giving feedback
- Good team member with proven ability to lead, motivate, inspire and encourage collaborative working to improve service and team performance.
- A strong sense of personal and team accountability coupled to a clear understanding of the boundaries around delegated authority
- Demonstrable inter-personal and communications skills, with a track record in writing complex business cases and policies
- High level of work organisation, self-motivation, drive for performance and improvement, and flexibility in approach and attitude
- Strong sense of commitment to openness, honesty and integrity in undertaking the role
- A commitment to improving patient services through an ability to sustain a clear performance focus on achieving demanding goals
