Production Line Technician
Production Line Technician – Food Manufacturing - £15ph – Herefordshire + Accommodation + Overtime
Hours: 40 hours per week (flexibility required during peak periods)
Overtime: Paid after 48 hours at 1.25x basic rate (averaged over a 17-week period)
Working Pattern: 4 days out of 7 (Wednesday to Saturday) – variable start & finish times
The JobAs a production technician, you will take responsibility for managing the grading and packing of blueberries to maximise raw material utilisation, maintain efficiency, and ensure product quality. This is a hands‑on technical and supervisory role focused on line performance, equipment monitoring, stock optimisation, and maintaining the highest standards of hygiene, food safety, and Health & Safety compliance. You will work closely with production, technical, and QA teams to ensure KPIs are met and customer specifications are consistently achieved.
Key Responsibilities- Operate and monitor blueberry grading equipment to maximise efficiency and minimise waste
- Supervise a small team to ensure smooth and consistent line performance
- Carry out routine equipment checks and basic maintenance
- Report faults or performance concerns to the Production Manager
- Maintain accurate production, quality, and food safety records
- Manage line performance against agreed KPIs
- Promote and maintain best practice in hygiene, food safety, and Health & Safety
- Ensure compliance with internal standards and customer specifications
A large, well established fresh produce business operating a high volume soft fruit packing facility in Herefordshire is seeking a Production Line Technician to join its commercial production team. The company supplies leading UK retailers and operates a fast paced, quality‑driven environment where product freshness, efficiency, and food safety are paramount.
The Candidate- Experience in a busy factory or food production environment
- Fresh produce experience advantageous
- Experience operating or maintaining machinery
- Basic mechanical understanding for troubleshooting minor issues
- Strong attention to detail and ability to identify product defects
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Flexible and adaptable to seasonal production demands
- Understanding of food safety, hygiene, and Health & Safety standards
- Computer literate for scanning and reporting tasks
- Full UK driving licence and access to own transport preferred
- Ideally locally based or willing to relocate due to demanding and unpredictable working schedule (on‑site accommodation may be available, e.g. pod or room within shared house)
