Business Unit Leader - Data Center Market

Gray Construction is seeking a Business Unit Leader to join their Data Center market team.

Position Summary

Responsible for the overall execution and performance of construction projects, including project administration, financial performance, schedule management, risk mitigation, relationship management, team development, and collaboration with other Business Unit Leaders.

Key Responsibilities

Project Administration: Conduct start-up meetings, track action items, visit sites to evaluate safety, quality, and performance, and review KPIs regularly.

Financial Success: Monitor project budgets, develop proposals, manage project P&L, and oversee procurement and change orders.

Schedule Performance: Develop and monitor project schedules, document delays, and implement corrective measures.

Risk Management: Understand contractual obligations, promote safety and quality, develop risk management plans, and oversee risk mitigation efforts.

Relationship Management: Serve as primary customer contact, develop relationship plans, and embody Gray’s core values.

Team Member Development: Support company values, monitor team cohesion, mentor staff, and ensure training.

Collaboration: Foster a cooperative work environment, communicate with leadership, and develop operational best practices.

Administrative Authority

Execute subcontract agreements and customer change orders, with authority limits as specified.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree or 10+ years of relevant experience.
7+ years profit and loss responsibility on multiple projects.
5+ years managing design/build or hard bid projects.
Experience with various contracting methods and legal aspects.
Proven record of increasing project profitability.
Technical knowledge in engineering and design disciplines.
Experience managing projects involving equipment procurement and installation.
Strong scheduling and cost estimating skills.
Ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders.
Energetic, self-motivated, team-oriented, and committed to professional growth.

Physical Demands & Work Environment

Frequent standing, walking, sitting, and use of hands; occasional lifting up to 50 pounds; moderate noise environment; overtime may be required.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Indirect supervision of multiple project team members.
