OverviewThis Union Operations Specialist position in Hermiston, OR performs feed mill operations such as loading/unloading, bagging, pelleting and palletizing our feed products. The role offers 2nd shift hours (1:00 pm – 9:30 pm, Monday – Friday), onsite training, competitive pay & benefits, and the opportunity to join the largest cooperative in the U.S.
Compensation- Salary Range: $23.84 – $24.84 per hour
- Union role. Full rate of pay after successful completion of probationary period & shift differential. Wages are based on the collective bargaining agreement.
- Operate all feed manufacturing equipment safely and efficiently.
- Adhere to CHS’ quality assurance program regarding ingredient receiving, load‑out, and bagging.
- Perform sequencing, recording, and documenting of all feed manufactured during the shift.
- Maintain accurate production and FDA records, entering data into an Excel spreadsheet.
- Mix and prepare livestock feeds efficiently, ensuring accuracy and high quality.
- Assist management with production scheduling, inventory planning & control for both ingredients and finished products.
- Determine proper routing and distribution for manufactured feeds to appropriate holding bins.
- Assist with equipment maintenance and repair as needed.
- Load and unload trucks in a safe and efficient manner.
- Provide excellent customer service and assist customers when needed.
- Observe and enforce all company policies & procedures, adhere to all safety & FDA requirements.
- Effectively communicate with managers, co‑workers, and customers.
- Perform general work around the facility and other duties as assigned.
- 1+ years in Production and/or Operations
- Experience in mill operations, manufacturing, or similar
- Ability to work extended hours during peak seasons to meet business demands
- High School diploma or GED preferred
- Ability to lift and load up to 75 lbs
- Comfortable in damp, dusty, dry conditions
- Ability to stand for long periods
- Ability to perform physically driven tasks
