Responsible for the primary care of ill/injured patients at the referring facility and during transports to the receiving facility. Relay patient condition information to the medical control physician and work with team members and medical control to develop an individualized, evidence‑based plan of care for each patient. Comply with Pedi‑Flite policy and procedure, hospital policies, and regulatory requirements. Participate in quality improvement, marketing for the Pedi‑Flite program, and serve as an educator and resource provider of critical care services.

OverviewPrimary care and transport of ill/injured patients with an emphasis on pediatric critical care. Manage patient stabilization, diagnostics, and therapeutics in line with advanced paramedic scope while ensuring safety and compliance with all protocols.
What You Will Do- Collaborate with Pediflite team members to provide high quality pre‑hospital and inter‑facility advanced critical care.
- Transport patients via ground or air while practicing in accordance with philosophy, policies, procedures, and standards of the hospital. Function within the guidelines of the transport program protocols.
- Assist the team leader in obtaining pertinent neonatal and child‑hood histories, performing physical assessments, and developing management plans.
- Identify, plan, implement, and evaluate the stabilization of acute care for neonates, infants, children, and adolescents as team lead or in collaboration with the team leader and medical control physicians.
- Perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures as indicated for identification and management of problems, including airway management and assessment, endotracheal intubation, and mechanical ventilation.
- Act as a medical flight member by attending pre‑mission briefings and debriefings, completing necessary documentation, assisting in the pre‑mission liftoff checklist, and supporting the pilot as requested.
- Comply with safety standards to assure safety of self, medical personnel, patient, and equipment. Conduct aircraft safety briefings as needed.
- Assume team leader responsibilities when needed and provide patient care using age‑appropriate interventions according to individual licensure, departmental protocols, and standards of care.
- Technical degree or diploma in Paramedic.
- 1–3 years driving an ambulance.
- 5–7 years as an Emergency Medical Technician.
- 3–5 years as a Paramedic.
- Class D driver’s license with F (For‑Hire Endorsement) – Tennessee Motor Vehicle.
- Mississippi EMS Driver certification – Mississippi State Department of Health.
- Paramedic – Mississippi, Issuer TBD.
- Paramedic – Tennessee, Issuer TBD.
- BASIC LIFE SUPPORT – American Heart Association.
- Heartsaver CPR AED – American Heart Association.
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support – American Heart Association.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support – American Heart Association.
Skills and Abilities
- Working knowledge of emergency care procedures and techniques applicable to medical transportation.
- Competence in age‑specific guidelines for neonate, infant, early childhood, late childhood, adolescent, adult, and all ages.
- High critical thinking and reasoning skills with strong attention to detail.
- Proficiency in psychomotor skills outlined under the scope of practice of a Paramedic.
- Ability to prepare moderately complex written materials such as patient records.
