The Kennel Assistant plays a vital role in the comfort, safety, and well‑being of all animals in our care. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working directly with pets, values teamwork, and understands the importance of cleanliness, consistency, and compassion in a veterinary setting.
You’ll work closely with veterinarians, technicians, and support staff to deliver exceptional patient care every day.
Key Responsibilities- Provide daily care for dogs, cats, and other pets, including feeding, watering, bathing, exercising, and administering medications as directed
- Maintain a clean, sanitary, and organized environment in all kennel, boarding, and hospital areas
- Observe animals for signs of illness, stress, or injury and report concerns promptly to veterinary staff
- Safely restrain and handle animals during treatments, exams, grooming, and bathing
- Accurately maintain feeding, medication, and care records for all boarding and hospitalized patients
- Clean cages, runs, and hospital equipment following proper sanitation and infection‑control protocols
- Assist veterinary technicians and assistants with patient care as needed
- Support daily operations through laundry, inventory, and general facility upkeep
- Provide respectful, compassionate care to clients and their pets
- Uphold all hospital safety policies and standards of care
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Previous experience in animal care, kennel, grooming, or veterinary settings strongly preferred
- Comfortable handling animals of various sizes, breeds, and temperaments
- Compassionate, dependable, and detail‑oriented
- Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, team‑oriented environment
- Must be able to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 50 pounds
- Weekend availability required
; holiday coverage may occasionally be needed
