As a Guitar Teacher at Bach to Rock Herndon, you'll teach private lessons and small groups on acoustic and/or electric guitar (and optionally bass). You'll work with students of different ages and levels—from first‑time players to more advanced musicians—helping them build solid technique, musical understanding, and performance confidence.
What You'll Do- Teach 30‑ and 60‑minute private lessons (and occasionally small groups) on guitar (acoustic, electric, and/or bass).
- Create lesson plans tailored to each student's age, level, and goals.
- Prepare students for recitals, band programs, exams, and performances.
- Communicate professionally with parents/guardians and adult students about progress and expectations.
- Maintain a consistent teaching schedule and provide reliable, timely communication about any changes.
- Collaborate with other instructors and staff on recitals, bands, camps, and events as needed.
- Strong proficiency on guitar (acoustic and/or electric); bass skills are a plus.
- Minimum of one of the following:
- Currently enrolled in a music or music‑related degree program, or
- 2–3+ years consistent experience teaching guitar or leading youth programs, or
- 1–2+ years emerging professional performance experience.
- Comfort working with children and teens in a lesson setting.
- Reliable personal transportation to our school.
- Ability to commit to a consistent weekly teaching schedule, including evenings and weekends.
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Music, Music Education, or a related field, or
- 3–5+ years of private lesson teaching experience, or
- Experience playing in bands/ensembles and preparing students for performances.
- Part‑time, hourly position based on lesson schedule.
- Peak hours are weekday afternoons/evenings and Saturdays.
- Pay range: $17–$22 per hour, depending on education, teaching experience, and performance background within our instructor tier structure.
