Entry Level Water Resources Engineer - May 2026

AMT Engineering is seeking a highly motivated Entry Level Water Resources Engineer to join our Herndon, VA office. The position will start in May 2026 upon graduation.

Typical design tasks include stormwater management, storm drainage systems, culverts, open channels, bridge hydraulics, erosion and sediment controls, and other water resources engineering tasks.

• Assist in the preparation of engineering documents (plans, reports, cost estimates, and specifications) for advertising and construction.
• Obtain permit approvals from state and local agencies.
• Establish and maintain positive working relationships with coworkers, project managers, supervisors, and other team members.

• BS in Civil or Environmental Engineering with a focus in Water Resources.
• Proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Knowledge of hydrology and hydraulic modeling (drainage, SWM, floodplain) with commonly used software.
• Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE/EIT) Exam preferred.
• Design knowledge of Micro Station and/or AutoCAD Civil 3D.
• Excellent organizational, coordination, and communication skills, both written and verbal.
