Job Title: Mechanical Engineer |
Location: Herndon, VA - Herndon, VA 20171 US (Primary)
Fibertek is a leading developer of laser and electro-optic systems for the aerospace community, with key contributions to lasers for atmospheric sensing, laser communications, and lidar sensors for NASA, DoD, and commercial customers. We are looking for a highly motivated individual to join our Mechanical Engineering Department onsite in Herndon, VA. As part of the Mechanical Engineering project team, you will design and develop complex laser and electro-optical systems for military and/or aerospace applications.
Duties include creating detailed CAD models and drawings, analyzing systems, initiating procurements, supporting assembly and testing of systems, preparing technical reports, and participating in design review meetings.
- Leading efforts to create mechanical system design solutions and architecture.
- Detailed design CAD models and drawings.
- Analyzing systems, initiating procurements.
- Supporting assembly and testing of systems.
- Preparing technical reports.
- Leading design review meetings.
- Creating new concepts in support of business development opportunities.
Expertise and experience required:
- BS in Mechanical Engineering required
- MS of Mechanical Engineering preferred
- 5-10 years relevant experience minimum
- Expertise in Creo software
- Experience with ANSYS software a plus
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
