Director, Software Engineering for Airline Tariff Publishing Company (ATPCO) may work remotely and report to our Herndon, VA HQ location. Design & architect next‑gen tech solutions to address business problems. Propose & present solutions to stakeholders including execs & senior leaders from product, business, strategy, & tech. Author docs & diagrams to communicate ideas & guide engineering organization for implementation. Partner with Product, Design, Architecture Leads in creating tech solutions & define measurable outcomes.

Work collaboratively across product development portfolios, engineering, & service support teams to consult on current & emerging tech capabilities. Optimize solution delivery according to industry best practices, airline industry business, tech processes & capabilities. Mentor, guide & coach to strengthen tech expertise of engineering & product community. Continuously improve software engineering & software delivery practices. Foster an environment of innovation.

Create a culture where teams lead craftsmanship, availability, resilience, & scalability of their solutions. Internally & externally help elevate the company brand as an innovative company that delivers modern tech‑enabled capabilities. Lead R&D projects that have potential to disrupt industry through innovative tech & groundbreaking business processes. Support diverse product portfolios to gain deep understanding of customer & industry needs, enabling development of modern tech solutions tailored to those requirements.

OT as needed. May undergo background checks. Limited national and international travel may be involved to other ATPCO offices (incl but not limited to offices in Singapore, UK and Canada) for client visits, conferences, leadership summits. Travel up to 1–2 days per week (25% to 49% of time); maximum length of single trip not exceeding 5 days. Wage: $207,900 - $221,450.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s in Computer Science, IT, Electrical Engineering or other related field.
• 10 years of relevant experience in development roles with complex IT applications.
• Experience in influencing and implementing Best‑in‑Class design and engineering excellence practices;
  Service Oriented Architecture;
  Continuous Integration and Delivery Environment.
• Successful delivery of software applications as an individual, team leader, or engineering manager.
• 7 years in designing and building enterprise platform solutions.
• Proficiency in programming languages (Java, Python, or Rust).
• 5 years in Agile software development.
