SummarySecuring Travel, Protecting People – At the Transportation Security Administration, you will operate in a high‑stakes environment to safeguard the American way of life. You will secure airports, seaports, railroads, highways and public transit systems, protecting transportation infrastructure and ensuring freedom of movement for people and commerce.
Duties- Plan, conduct, document and finalize administrative cases. Utilize investigative techniques and sources to develop a strategy for each case and receive guidance when encountering unfamiliar issues or unusual techniques.
- Gather and assess information, identify and analyze issues and allegations, coordinate and conduct interviews, research standards and report findings from thorough investigations or inquiries.
- Conduct fact‑finding investigations, interview witnesses and suspects on administrative cases involving allegations against TSA employees, contractors, regulated parties and others with a nexus to the investigation.
- Implement accepted methodology, procedures, precedents and techniques for administrative investigations, performing activities in accordance with administrative laws, DHS and TSA regulations.
- Participate in cross‑organizational or interrelated investigations, including interagency and intergovernmental teams, to resolve discrepancies and ensure investigations are supported by evidence.
- Provide investigative assistance—including interviews, surveillance and other support functions—for administrative, civil and criminal investigations throughout the United States and outside the Continental United States.
- Facilitate and prepare sworn statements, affidavits and administrative subpoenas, and provide accurate, concise and comprehensive reports of investigation for presentation to division management officials or other adjudicating entities.
- U.S. Citizenship or U.S. National.
- Minimum age 18 at time of application.
- Successful completion of a favorable Background Investigation.
- Selective Service registration required.
- Obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance based on a Special Background Investigation.
- Successful completion of pre‑ and post‑employment drug/alcohol testing.
To qualify for the SV‑H Pay Band (GS‑11/12) or SV‑I Pay Band (GS‑13) you must meet the experience and education requirements listed below.
- One year of specialized experience at the appropriate pay band level (SV‑G/GS‑9 or SV‑H/GS‑12) in federal service or equivalent private sector experience. Specialized experience includes applying investigative techniques, conducting fact‑finding interviews and preparing written reports of findings.
- Education:
Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree, or three full years of progressively higher level graduate education, or an LL.M. if related. - Combination of education and experience may be used to meet total qualification requirements, with experience and education percentages adding to at least 100 %.
Credit for experience is based on a 40‑hour workweek. National Service experience may be credited. Political appointees must disclose their status. Applicants must meet qualification requirements by the closing date of the vacancy announcement.
