• 5+ years of experience in System Engineer or Administration in an enterprise environment
• Experience supporting an Azure cloud environment (must be fully in cloud or hybrid on prem)
• 3+ years supporting Azure Cloud, specifically back-end and server-side functions, databases, APIs, authentication and networking
• Has supported a Windows environment as well
• Experience deploying Linux virtual machines using the Azure portal, CLI (az), or ARM templates
• Experience setting up Linux FTP servers (has worked on SFTP or FTPS for secure file transfers)
• Must go onsite 3x per week in Herndon, VA

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Linux Systems Administrator to join our IT infrastructure team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Linux system administration, Azure cloud environments, and scripting. You will be responsible for maintaining, optimizing, and securing our Linux-based systems and services, ensuring high availability and performance across our infrastructure.

The responsibilities include:

• Support, troubleshooting and installation/deployment of Linux based systems, including but not limited to hardware and software installation and upgrades.
• Assist the IT operations team to perform operating system updates, patching, install and troubleshoot.
• Diagnose and isolate operating system, server-side networking, and application related problems.
• Utilize available resources to correct or create suitable work‑around.
• Provide documentation and training for all testing and troubleshooting procedures that are repeatable.
• Maintain and enhance existing systems administrator tools, develop new tools, using available programming and scripting languages, shells scripts, Python and Perl, automating repetitive tasks where possible.
• Perform system builds and hardware upgrades for both corporate and branch UNIX servers as well as hardware maintenance and repairs/replacements.
• Assist with UNIX problem diagnostics, system recovery and disk recovery.
• Provides second‑level production support for servers and data storage including after‑hours on‑call support.
• Provide system backup support to support teams, including user menus, scripts, backup software and web-based monitoring tools.
