This role will provide leadership and oversight of a highly integrated customer solution, leveraging both our product capabilities and delivering advanced geospatial data into customer workflows. Success requires a combination of technical acumen in imagery and analytics tasking, processing and delivery systems management, as well as familiarity delivering and supporting software in customer environments. The position is responsible for team leadership, customer interaction and coordination with Black Sky product development teams to ensure overall success.
This role will be located near our corporate headquarters in Herndon, VA and report to the VP, Customer Programs. In-person duties are needed as appropriate for managing this program, supporting customers, and overseeing the matrixed engineering team.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as the program manager for highly integrated customer solution sets, coordinating plans both internally and externally to ensure success.
- Serve as the primary contractual and technical interface to the customer team. Responsible for the cost, schedule, and execution of programs.
- Establish, monitor and operate within program budget targets, including meeting or exceeding projected revenue and profitability goals.
- Manage and direct program personnel to successfully meet the objectives of the Customer and Program, providing oversight and guidance on international customers.
- Support Program Management Office objectives including reporting, engineering, production, subcontract management, planning, risk management, and overall program execution.
- Interact with the broader business and product development staff to ensure schedule, product and solution alignment.
- Exercise independent judgment and discretion in overall program management.
- Coordinate regular updates across the leadership team, communicating program execution and highlighting risks or critical milestones.
- Prepare technical and cost proposals (e.g., task orders) to ensure favorable contract terms for the customer and the company.
- Assign tasks to meet work priorities and goals.
- Participate in scheduled and ad hoc meetings and provide updates on program objectives.
- Collaborate using Microsoft Office and other management tools.
- Other related tasks as required.
Required Qualifications:
- At least 15 years of experience in product development and/or support with at least 10 years in GEOINT/GIS.
- Minimum of seven (7) years of direct management or leadership experience developing, fielding and supporting systems.
- Prior experience delivering major embedded systems into a customer environment.
- Experience supporting international customers, programs, and stakeholders with strong communication and cultural awareness.
- Expertise in Geospatial and commercial data sources, formats and exploitation techniques.
- Strong knowledge of multi-INT system architecture and design.
- Experience with DOD and international MOD customers and processes.
- Familiarity with the GEOINT mission area and translating objectives into technical requirements and capabilities.
- Proven systems engineering experience in defining, documenting and managing system requirements and interfaces.
- Experience developing Concepts of Operations and documenting functional and performance requirements.
