Harris Integrated Mission Systems seeks a Software Engineer to translate requirements into maintainable solutions for our C5 and Cyber Solution Centers. You will work across all stages of the SDLC, gather requirements, and partner with stakeholders to prioritize and scope tasks. The role requires close collaboration on a Scrum team and will influence strategy for product and infrastructure development.
- Support engineering team members as a subject matter expert in embedded software application development, providing guidance to multiple software engineers.
- Investigate root causes of complex issues and implement solutions, working independently or with a multidisciplinary team.
- Apply computer science, engineering, and mathematical analysis concepts in developing software for target hardware.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional engineers to develop and evaluate interfaces between hardware and software, and design overall system performance.
- Participate in all phases of the software development life cycle, including requirements analysis, design, implementation, hardware‑software integration, and formal testing.
- Develop software test plans and procedures, and produce related technical documentation.
- Use modeling tools and equipment to establish operating data, conduct experimental tests, prototype, and evaluate results.
- Participate in peer reviews, identify and track defects, and oversee defect repair.
- Implement software using languages such as C/C++ and Python for embedded real‑time operating systems.
- Active Department of Defense (DoD) Secret clearance.
- Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field; or a Graduate Degree with at least 2 years of relevant experience; or, in lieu of a degree, a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience.
- 3+ years of experience developing applications on simulated and target hardware.
- Experience using a Real‑Time Operating System (RTOS) such as Green Hills Integrity, VxWorks, or a similar platform.
- Object‑oriented design and implementation experience with UML tools such as IBM Rhapsody or Magic Draw/Cameo.
- Experience developing device drivers and board support packages for real‑time embedded systems.
- Experience with modern C++ techniques.
- Experience with information assurance and/or cryptography.
- Experience with NSA Type 1 certification or other software certification such as DO‑178.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Salary Range: $95,000 – $177,000 per year (subject to location, experience, and other factors). L3
