Infra De Technician, DCC Communities

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We support all AWS data centers and the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that keep our customers’ innovations available around the clock.

The NCD team is expanding and is seeking a proven cable technician with robust technical understanding of network and infrastructure. You will work closely with project managers, network engineers, and operations teams to recover cabling infrastructure and sanitize legacy abandoned cable. Your primary focus is to reclaim capacity for customers by safely removing decommissioned legacy network equipment and old cabling infrastructure.

• Physical decommissioning of cable infrastructure in a Data Center environment.
• Manage assigned work and priorities through ticketing system and/or workflows.
• Provide status updates to stakeholders via ticketing system.
• Effectively coordinate and deliver multiple tasks congruently.
• Exhibit quality workmanship on all work and maintain Data Center cleanliness.
• Effectively leverage the logical tools and systems that are provided.
• Follow all production, safety and quality standards, codes and industry best practices.
• Collaborate with various stakeholders to remove obstacles.
• Read and comprehend datacenter build documentation and site specific layout material.
• Travel within geographical work area is required, up to 25% travel outside traditional work area may be required depending on your primary region.
• Scope effort assigned, validate all work is ready for decommissioning, create change requests to perform work, and timely execute effort that has been assigned.
• All efforts need to be documented via ticketing system.
• Successful candidates must be comfortable working at heights, including on ladders, scaffolding, and aerial lifts, while adhering to all safety protocols.

• 1+ year of experience in Computer Hardware Repair, Infrastructure Cabling, Network Deployment, Data Center Operations, or Technical Project Management.
• Understanding of decommissioning hardware/software and procedures.

• Can work in cramped spaces or in elevated locations while adhering to health & safety guidelines.
• Experience dealing effectively with customers during problem resolution and operating efficiently under pressure.
• Experience managing work and priorities through a ticketing system.
• Up to 20% travel may be required.
