Infra Decommission Technician, Network and Cable Decom (NCD)
AWS is a fast paced technology company and a leader in the world of Cloud Computing. We are expanding our decommissioning team and are looking for a proven cable technician with experience in robust technical understanding of network and infrastructure. The Network & Cable Decommissioning team (NCD) is looking to hire a highly motivated, self-driven decommissioning technician who will work closely with project managers, network engineers, and operations teams to recover cabling infrastructure, and sanitize legacy abandoned cable.
The NCD Tech will be responsible for executing assigned efforts and communicating status updates of those tasks.
- Physical decommissioning of network and cabling infrastructure in a data center environment.
- Manage assigned work and priorities through ticketing system and/or workflows.
- Provide status updates to stakeholders via ticketing system.
- Effectively coordinate and deliver multiple tasks concurrently.
- Exhibit quality workmanship on all work and maintain data center cleanliness.
- Effectively leverage the logical tools and systems provided.
- Follow all production, safety and quality standards, codes and industry best practices.
- Collaborate with various stakeholders to remove obstacles.
- Read and comprehend datacenter build documentation and site-specific layout material.
- Travel within geographical work area is required; up to 25% travel outside traditional work area may be required depending on primary region.
- Scope effort assigned, validate all work is ready for decommissioning, create change requests to perform work, and timely execute assigned effort.
- All efforts documented via ticketing system.

- 1+ years of computer networking experience
- 1+ years of Linux operating systems experience
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field
- Experience in computer networking
- Experience working with Linux operating systems
- Can lift and rack equipment up to 40 pounds
- Experience with computer hardware troubleshooting and repair
- Can work in cramped spaces or in elevated locations while adhering to health & safety guidelines
- Experience dealing effectively with customers during problem resolution and operating under pressure
- Experience managing work and priorities through a ticketing system
- Experience with cabling infrastructure best practices and methodologies
- Experience working in a data center environment (racking and stacking gear, cable management, hot/cold aisle containment)

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package may include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
