You’ll Do
- The Executive Director of Labor & Workplace Relations is a strategic operator and trusted advisor who will oversee V2X's enterprise labor relations strategy. This role will lead a small team of labor relations experts and partner closely with Finance, Contracts, Legal, Program Management, and Operations to ensure that labor agreements are not only compliant, but also financially sound, operationally feasible, and strategically forward‑looking.
- This executive will work backwards from negotiation strategy, anticipate opportunities, risks, and proactively design frameworks that balance workforce needs, contractual obligations, and business performance. A proven track record in aviation and government contracting labor relations is required.
- Leadership & Team Development:
Lead and mentor a small team of labor relations professionals; build organizational capability in negotiation and workplace engagement. - Champion a culture of proactive problem‑solving and partnership with unions and employee groups. Lead requirements for managing 50+ unionized contracts across the globe.
- Strategic Labor Negotiations:
Serve as lead strategist and negotiator in union discussions, particularly in aviation and government contracting settings. Anticipate negotiation dynamics and design strategies that address long‑term business and workforce needs. Build playbooks and frameworks for consistency across agreements. - Financial & Business Alignment:
Partner with Finance to model wage, benefit, and performance trade‑offs; ensure negotiations align with financial plans and margin requirements. Translate complex financial data into practical negotiation strategies. Work with Contracts and Legal to ensure negotiations reflect federal contracting requirements, compliance, and risk mitigation. - Cross‑Functional
Collaboration:
Collaborate with HR, Legal, Program Management and Operations to ensure agreements support program execution, workforce availability, and long‑term delivery commitments. Establish early‑warning systems and forward‑looking analytics to anticipate labor risks before they affect operations. - Workplace Engagement & Relationship Building:
Build and sustain strong, trust‑based relationships with labor unions, government partners, and internal stakeholders. Position V2X as a company known for fairness, accountability, and collaboration in labor relations. - Executive Advisory & Representation:
Advise senior executives and the Board on labor strategy, financial impact, and risk management. Represent V2X in external forums with unions, regulators, and government agencies.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education- Bachelor's degree in Human Resource Management or similar study; one year related experience may be substituted for one year of education, if degree is required.
- 12+ years of progressive labor relations leadership, including direct responsibility for union negotiations.
- Experience working with 15+ contracts in multiple states.
- Deep experience in aviation and/or federal government contracting environments.
- Proven ability to connect financial models to negotiation outcomes.
- Strong operator with the ability to think strategically, anticipate risks, and create innovative solutions.
- Track record of building relationships across unions, employee groups, and executive leadership.
- Expert knowledge of U.S. labor law, federal contracting regulations, and compliance requirements.
- United States Citizenship required.
- At least 20% travel may be required.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance, as applicable.
