You will work in sophisticated, safe, and secure data centers supporting the world's largest cloud platform. As an Engineering Operations Technician (EOT) you will test, implement, and maintain cutting‑edge technology and practices to meet evolving market demands. Key responsibilities
- Daily building rounds to monitor and record information from electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment to ensure 24/7 reliability and availability.
- Monitor Building Management Systems (BMS) and Electrical Power Management System (EPMS).
- Assist in troubleshooting of facility and rack‑level events within internal Service Level Agreements (SLA).
- Perform rack installs and rack decommissioning within internal SLA.
- Perform preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, root‑cause analysis, and repair of electrical and mechanical equipment.
- Technical writing to support the change management program.
- Monitor daily work requests, manage to resolution, and execute projects from conception to completion.
- On‑site support of contractors, subcontractors, and vendors, ensuring all work performed follows established practices, procedures, and local legislation.
- Work schedules vary by site; shifts can be up to 12 hours, may rotate, and may include on‑call rotations.
- May support more than one location/site.
Physical requirements
- Willingness and demonstrated ability to work in the following physical conditions with reasonable accommodations: regular lifting or moving up to 39 lbs independently, group lifts of 40+ lbs, ladder use, walking, hand use, reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, climbing stairs, twisting, bending, working above shoulders, grasping, carrying, pushing, pulling objects, and use of ear protection.
A day in the life
This role is Amazon’s frontline for hands‑on electrical and mechanical equipment preventative maintenance, PM, and troubleshooting, reporting to a site’s Data Center Facility Manager. Responsibilities include maintaining, operating, and troubleshooting mission‑critical data center facility equipment such as standby diesel generators, fuel systems, 3‑phase electrical systems (switch gear, UPS, PDUs, wet‑cell batteries) and mechanical systems (CRAHU units, centrifugal chillers, cooling towers, water systems, air handlers, pumps, motors).
Additional support equipment includes fire/life safety equipment, building automation systems and general facilities equipment.

Basic qualifications
- Technical (military/trade school) training or 2+ years of electrical or mechanical, HVAC, or fire system experience in mission‑critical infrastructure, or equivalent experience in a relevant industry.
- 2+ years’ experience with Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- High school or equivalent diploma.
Preferred qualifications
- 4+ years of Data Center Engineering experience.
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree.
