Backend Software Engineer - SATCOM

Required Qualifications

• 12+ years of software engineering experience and a Bachelors Degree. Four (4) additional years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
• This position requires the candidate possess a minimum Secret clearance with the ability to obtain Top Secret.
• Experience in Python, with hands‑on experience building scalable backend services and APIs using frameworks such as FastAPI.
• Proven experience working with modern infrastructure and tools, including Postgre
  
  SQL, AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, and Terraform, to support cloud‑native application development and deployment.
• Demonstrated in‑depth knowledge of at least one major commercial cloud platform (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP), including its native services for compute, storage, and security.
• Strong background in backend architecture and development, with a focus on performance optimization, security hardening, and system reliability.

• Ability to work with end‑users to design and build solutions to their needs
• Ability to initiate self‑directed learning of new technologies, to learn quickly and adapt to a fast‑paced environment

As a SR Backend Software Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in building a cutting‑edge ground communications and data‑transport platform for U.S. government satellites. You will design and develop core platform services that enable secure, scalable, and efficient satellite operations. In this role, you will contribute as an individual developer while supporting technical decisions to ensure platform excellence.

• Build multi‑tenant services on public cloud platforms like AWS
• Build, architect, and consume APIs and backend services as part of the platform ecosystem with an emphasis on automation, testing, and security
• Advocate for improvements to product quality, security, and performance that have a particular impact on your team and others
• Engage with customers and partners to facilitate integration with our services
• Solve complex technical challenges related to scaling space communications infrastructure
