Transform technology into opportunity as a Software Developer Sr Principal pe what’s next for mission-critical government projects while shaping what’s next for your engineering career. The ideal candidate will be a Software Developer in design, development, coding, testing, and debugging new software or providing complex enhancements to existing software. Works with technical staff to understand and develop resolution of software operational and transformational activities.

Successful candidate will have experience with multiple languages (including Java, Python, Ruby) and web frameworks (including Spring and Rails) as well as big data systems.

• Modernizes legacy Java, Python, and Ruby code as part of the migration to a cloud-based computing environment.
• Designs, implements, and maintains Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions using tools like Terraform to automate provisioning, improve scalability, and ensure environment consistency across development, staging, and production.
• Must be comfortable working with software developers to identify and resolve defects.
• Experience working with Git Hub, Jira and Confluence.
• Assists with the transition of existing batch processing systems to a near-real time streaming pipeline.
• Maintains current knowledge of relevant technology as assigned.
• Identifies and resolves complex hardware/software interface issues.
• Test and documents performance benchmarks and metrics for developed software.
• Designs and implements cloud-native data processing capabilities using tools such as Hadoop, Hive, and other big data software.
• Supports the design and development of a large scale structured search system
• Works with a cross functional team of developers, QA, Dev Ops, and security to develop, deliver, and sustain a complex production system.

• 8+ years of software development experience with at least two of Java, Python, Ruby, or Java Script
• Experience with Linux-based systems and shell scripting.
• Experience developing web applications, including familiarity with frontend JavaScript.
• Experience with relational databases (e.g. MySQL, Postgre
  
  SQL)
• Experience with application development and deployments with Amazon Web Services.
• Experience analyzing large volumes of complex structured and unstructured data.

• Experience with Hive and other big data processing technologies.
• Experience developing batch data processing pipelines.

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications or training, or work experience.
• Location: Herndon, VA
• Hours: Contract core hours, 9am - 3pm
• Security Clearance: TS/SCI with Polygraph
• US Citizenship Required

The likely salary range for this position is $158,855 - $214,921. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
