Learning Support Assistants – Help Shape the Future of Inclusive Education

Hours:28 Hours per week (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday (08:50am – 15:05pm) & Wednesday (08:50am – 14:45pm))
This role follows the school calendar, meaning you will work during student term time only, plus an additional 2 days across the year. These additional days are typically used during key periods such as exam results, enrolment, training, and preparation days.
Although you will not work all year round and your salary is calculated on a term-time basis, your pay is spread evenly across 12 months, providing consistent monthly income while benefiting from extended time off during school holidays.
This structure offers the security of set working hours alongside an improved work–life balance compared to full-year roles.

Learning Support Assistants (LSAs)to join our expanding and forward-thinking SEND team. Whether you’re an experienced LSA, new to education, or exploring a career change, we’re open-minded about hours and experience levels—and we’d love to hear from you.
This is a unique and rewarding opportunity to support our students on a day-to-day basis
while also helping to build an exciting, long-term vision for SEND provision
at Herne Bay High.
- Provide 1:1 and small-group support for students with identified SEND, both in and out of the classroom.
- Mentor and encourage students during mentor time to build confidence, resilience, and engagement.
- Work closely with class teachers and SENDCo to adapt materials, track progress, and maximise student learning outcomes.
- Take a proactive approach to supporting students who may be absent, ensuring continuity of learning.
- Participate in supervising access arrangements for students during internal and external exams.
- Collaborate with departments to deepen your subject knowledge and enhance your effectiveness in the classroom.
- A compassionate, patient, and proactive individual who is passionate about inclusion and equality in education.
- Experience supporting students with SEND is desirable, but training will be provided for the right candidate.
- Excellent communication skills and a team-focused mindset.
- A willingness to learn, reflect, and help shape an ambitious SEND provision.
