Penn State Health Penn State Psychiatric Institute is seeking a Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist for a long-term locum tenens assignment due to a permanent vacancy. This is a structured, weekday outpatient role with a strong multidisciplinary support model.
Job DetailsSpecialty: Child & Adolescent Psychiatry
Practice Setting: Outpatient (PHP + Clinic); limited inpatient coverage for vacation relief only
Schedule:
Monday Friday, daytime hours
36 hours/week standard (8a 4p Mon; 8a 3p Tue Fri)
Option to add hours for a 40-hour week
Start Date: March 9, 2026
Assignment Length: Through at least September 30, 2026
Coverage Type: Scheduled clinical hours only
Patient Volume: patients per day
Patient Population:
Outpatient: ages 5 23
PHP: ages 7 18
EMR: Cerner
Preference: Full-time candidates preferred; part-time availability will also be considered
Clinical FocusPrimary service is Child & Adolescent Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP)
Medication management, including controlled substances
New evaluations, step-downs, med checks, and discharges
Occasional inpatient unit coverage (approximately 15 days total during the assignment for vacation coverage only)
MD/DO
Board Certified in Psychiatry
Adult Psychiatry Residency + Child & Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship required
Active Pennsylvania license required to be considered
Recent experience treating children and adolescents
Experience with psychiatric medication management
3 RNs onsite
Dedicated office staff
No APP supervision required
No call responsibilities

Long-term stability with no call
Well-established academic health system
