Description
Milton Hershey School (MHS) is one of the world’s best pre‑K through 12th grade private schools, where approximately 2,200 students from disadvantaged backgrounds are provided with a cost‑free home and a top‑notch education. Thanks to the generosity of Milton and Catherine Hershey in 1909, the school is fully endowed today, with the resources to ensure students can thrive. The school has prepared over 12,000 graduates to lead fulfilling and productive lives and is expanding to serve more students.
MHS is seeking Scouting Divisional Co‑Leaders to assist with our Girls Scouting for America program with the Elementary School students. Some of the responsibilities are:
- Assisting in training and guiding Girl Scouts as members of the MHS Troop.
- Assisting with supervision, instruction and activities as instructed.
- Assist in conducting weekly Troop meetings.
- Assist in the planning, organizing and participation of all relevant ceremonies.
- Assist in assuring that all activities are conducted within the Scouting for America safety guidelines and requirements.
- Assist in establishing and maintaining records of Scouting for America advancement by MHS students.
Work Schedule: 2‑3 hours per week, 1 weekend per month, 1 week during summer (depending on the needs of the program).
Qualifications- High School Diploma or equivalent, required.
- Be at least 18 years of age.
- Boy Scout, Girl Scout, or Scouting for America experience, preferred.
- Experience working with youth and adults of all ages in a diverse workplace.
- Skilled in mentoring and developing youth. Experience with low‑income students a plus.
- Proficiency with Microsoft applications.
- Demonstrated flexibility to adjust plans when unexpected changes occur.
- Demonstrated ability to multitask and effectively coordinate meetings and demanding schedules.
- Candidates must demonstrate a high degree of integrity as all MHS staff are role models for MHS students.
- Candidates must be willing to actively engage with students beyond the scope of their job responsibilities.
