This position is based in Hershey, PA, within the Department of Cellular and Molecular Physiology at the Penn State College of Medicine.
Job Description and ResponsibilitiesThe successful candidate will study mitochondrial cell death mechanisms in neurodegenerative diseases, working in the Mnatsakanyan lab. The role involves:
- Conducting experiments on mitochondrial isolation, protein purification, and primary neuronal cultures.
- Participating in electrophysiology and microscopy studies of mitochondrial ion channels.
- Ordering lab supplies and maintaining laboratory equipment.
Applicants should have a bachelor's or master's degree in chemistry, biology, physics, or related fields. Prior research experience with animal models or protein biochemistry/biophysics is preferred.
The position requires a Bachelor's degree or higher (Master's preferred) and approximately 7 years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Additional Requirements- Successful completion of background checks including:
- Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Background Check
- Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance
- FBI Criminal Background Check
The pay range is $42,100 - $61,000. This is a limited-term, full-time position funded for one year with the possibility of renewal.
