Postdoctoral position in public health/clinical informatics in healthcare is immediately available with close collaboration with the Department of Neurology with focus on cerebrovascular diseases using high dimensional and multi‑faceted data. This person’s primary research will be focused on NIH‑funded studies to develop prediction models for stroke using electronic health record data enriched with social determinants of health from multiple institutions.

This position requires attention to detail, strong organizational and interpersonal skills, and scientific writing skills. The role will begin as soon as possible. Geographic proximity to Hershey Medical Center/Penn State College of Medicine is necessary for in‑person activities; the position includes opportunities for hybrid work.

The postdoctoral scholar will be expected to author publications resulting from his/her research and will be provided mentored opportunities to obtain independent grant support in later years.

• Develop and validate prediction models for stroke using EHR data and social determinants of health.
• Collaborate closely with the Department of Neurology and multidisciplinary teams.
• Prepare and author research manuscripts, presentations, and grant proposals.
• Participate in NIH‑funded studies and contribute to data science and informatics projects.
• Work with big data, multi‑institutional datasets and contribute to analytics pipelines.

• A PhD in statistics, biostatistics, public or population health, bioinformatics, computer science, or a related field, or an MD (or MD/MPH) with experience working with big data.
• Proficiency in R and at least one additional programming language (e.g., Python, Perl, C++, Java, MATLAB).
• Demonstrated scientific writing skills, with at least two first‑author and four co‑author publications.
• Independent learning and collaborative teamwork in a dynamic environment.
• Strong organizational, interpersonal, and scientific writing skills.
• Will be able to work in‑person at Hershey Medical Center or in a hybrid format.

Limited‑term appointment funded for one year from date of hire.
