Summary of Position

Essential member of the health care team responsible for providing direct and indirect patient care. Maintain awareness of patient population needs and scheduling requirements, provide ongoing communication with nursing staff for assigned patients, and prioritize patient care in conjunction with other team members consistently. Assist the team in meeting patient and family goals. Supervision and direction is provided by the Registered Nurse.

Description

This is a 60-bed unit where nurses care for patients undergoing emergent and urgent care for acute and chronic conditions in a wide variety of acuity levels. The Emergency Department is a Level 1 Regional Trauma Center treating more than 70,000 patients annually.

Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant required.
  • Basic computer skills required (Windows preferred).
  • Must be able to read and comprehend written and verbal instructions.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with hospital personnel and patient population.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to interact with patients and team members.
  • Able to prioritize duties and work as a team member.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 3 months of patient care related experience preferred.
Physical Requirements
  • Able to stand constantly; walk frequently; sit occasionally.
  • Able to lift/carry 0-10 lbs frequently; 11-50 lbs occasionally.
  • Able to push /pull 0-20 lbs frequently; 21-75 lbs occasionally.
  • Able to climb occasionally; reach constantly.
  • Able to use hand for simple/firm grasping.
  • Appended to this job description is the Work Task Analysis that further describes the physical requirements appropriate for this role.
