Financial Controller

Elevate Search is partnering with a successful and growing business in Hertford to recruit an experienced Financial Controller.

This is a genuinely hands-on Financial Controller role for someone who enjoys leading a finance team whilst remaining close to the numbers.

We are looking for an established FC with strong experience across management reporting, month-end, statutory accounts, external audit, VAT and financial controls, ideally with experience using Sage.

This isn't a strategic or commercially focused finance position. The successful candidate will be comfortable rolling their sleeves up and getting into the detail when required – whether that's posting a journal, completing a balance sheet reconciliation or helping the team get month-end over the line.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Ownership and delivery of monthly management reporting.
• Leading the month-end and year-end close processes.
• Producing and reviewing management accounts.
• Preparing and reviewing journals, accruals and prepayments.
• Ownership and review of balance sheet reconciliations.
• Preparation and review of VAT returns and ensuring VAT compliance.
• Taking ownership of statutory accounts.
