Part-Time Bookkeeper - School hours

Love tidy books, balanced accounts and making every penny add up? Join a friendly, growing Hertford business in a flexible, office-based role that fits brilliantly around school hours (ideally 20-25 hours, 5 days per week).

• Keep financial records and ledgers accurate and up to date
• Process sales and purchase invoices and manage accounts payable and receivable
• Reconcile bank statements and credit card accounts
• Prepare and submit VAT returns in line with HMRC requirements
• Support month-end and year-end accounts preparation
• Maintain petty cash records and liaise with external accountants and HMRC when required
• Help ensure compliance with UK accounting and tax regulations

• Proven bookkeeping experience, ideally in a similar hands-on role
• Good knowledge of UK bookkeeping and VAT requirements
• Experience with Xero and strong Microsoft Excel skills
• Excellent numerical ability, accuracy and attention to detail
• Strong organisation and time management, with the confidence to work independently
• A trustworthy, discreet and clear approach to communication
• Prepare management accounts, or maintain the books through to management-account stage would be advantageous but not essential as full training will be given

• A relevant bookkeeping or accounting qualification
