About the Role

SMT Recruitment is delighted to be recruiting for a Commercial Coordinator on behalf of our client based in Hertford.

This is an excellent opportunity for an organised, commercially minded individual who enjoys working with numbers, building strong relationships, and supporting the day-to-day commercial operations of a busy business. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining accurate commercial information, supporting pricing and quotations, analysing profitability, and working closely with suppliers, customers and internal teams.

This position would suit someone with strong analytical skills, excellent attention to detail and confidence working with Excel in a fast-paced commercial environment.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare and issue customer quotations and pricing information.
Liaise with suppliers regarding pricing updates and cost changes.
Communicate pricing changes to customers professionally and efficiently.
Maintain accurate commercial, pricing and route information.
Analyse commercial performance, route profitability and operating costs.
Assist with budgeting, forecasting and financial reporting.
Produce reports and data to support commercial decision-making.
Support pricing analysis for new business opportunities and tenders.
Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, suppliers and logistics partners.
Coordinate commercial documentation, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
Prepare contracts and support general commercial administration.
Assist with logistics coordination and operational projects as required.
Monitor operational costs and identify opportunities for greater efficiency.
Support month-end reporting and reconciliation of operational costs where required.
Work collaboratively with finance, operations and sales teams to ensure smooth business operations.

About You

Previous experience in a commercial, coordination, logistics or administration role.
Strong numerical and analytical skills with confidence working with financial data.
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including Pivot Tables and XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP.
Comfortable communicating with customers and suppliers by phone and email.
Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise a varied workload.
Able to work independently and take ownership of responsibilities.
Professional communication and relationship-building skills.

Desirable Experience

Experience with in logistics, shipping or freight forwarding.
Finance or accounts experience.
Commercial administration involving pricing, quotations or tenders.
Experience using ERP or finance systems.

Benefits

£27,000 - £30,000 per annum.
Monday to Friday working hours (9:00am - 5:00pm).
