Reed Education are delighted to be working with a highly specialist SEN school in Meldreth, near Royston, supporting children and young people aged 6 to 19 with a wide range of learning needs. The school offers an exceptional, well-resourced environment including modern classrooms, specialist facilities, and an experienced therapeutic team on site.

Students have diverse and complex needs including MLD, SLD, autism, ADHD, sensory and physical impairments, and in some cases complex medical conditions. Many require support with managing sensory overload, anxiety and transitions, which may be reflected through their behaviour.

Due to continued growth, the school is seeking a compassionate and motivated SEND Teaching Assistant to join their team and help create positive outcomes for young people preparing for adulthood.

The Role

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial part in supporting students across all areas of their learning and development. Working within the classroom, the community and wider learning environments, you will help students work towards their educational and personal goals while promoting independence, confidence and wellbeing.

  • Supporting students with PMLD, complex medical needs, autism and other learning difficulties
  • Helping to deliver a meaningful, individualised curriculum
  • Promoting equality, respect and a learner-centred ethos
  • Encouraging emotional resilience, communication and independence
  • Providing high-quality, consistent support across all aspects of school life
  • Contributing to therapeutic and multi-disciplinary approaches
  • Participating in physical intervention and personal care routines when required

This is a varied role where no two days are the same, and you'll be part of a warm, collaborative team committed to transforming young lives.

What the school are looking for:

  • Willing to work towards formal qualifications and ongoing training (fully funded)
  • Passionate about supporting children and young people with additional needs
  • Compassionate, patient and dedicated
  • Ambitious and determined to overcome barriers to learning
  • Enthusiastic about outdoor and community-based learning
  • Able to see potential rather than disability
  • Fully committed to safeguarding and student wellbeing
  • Proactive, solution-focused and creative in their approach
  • Strong communicators, especially when supporting diverse communication needs
  • Team players who can also work independently when required

Why Join Through Reed?

  • Opportunity to work in an outstanding, well-resourced specialist school
  • Supportive leadership and a strong multi-disciplinary team
  • Personalised development with all training and qualifications funded
