Are you looking for a part‑time caretaker role in a friendly primary school setting in Hertfordshire? Our partner primary school in Hertford is seeking a reliable and proactive Caretaker to join the team on a part‑time basis, working 7:00 am – 11:00 am, Monday to Friday. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who takes pride in maintaining a safe, clean and welcoming environment for children, staff and visitors.
The Role- Part‑time Caretaker position
- Monday to Friday, 7:00 am – 11:00 am
- September start (or sooner if available)
- Responsible for opening the school site each morning
- Carrying out basic maintenance and health & safety checks
- Ensuring the school grounds and buildings are clean, secure and well‑presented
- Liaising with school staff and contractors when required
- Opportunity for additional hours during school holidays
- Community primary school with nursery provision in Hertford
- Educates children aged 3‑11 years
- Good‑sized primary school with over 300 pupils on roll
- Rated Good by Ofsted following its most recent inspection in December 2023, with inspectors recognising strengths in education, behaviour, personal development and leadership
- Well‑established school serving the local community
- Convenient Hertford location with good road links
- Previous site, caretaker, maintenance or facilities experience (preferred but not essential)
- A practical and proactive approach to problem‑solving
- Good awareness of health & safety responsibilities
- The ability to work independently and manage priorities effectively
- Reliability, flexibility and a strong work ethic
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
