Caretaker - Part Time

Our partner primary school in Hertford is seeking a reliable and proactive Caretaker to join the team on a part-time basis, working 7:00am 11:00am, Monday to Friday. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who takes pride in maintaining a safe, clean and welcoming environment for children, staff and visitors.

• Part-time Caretaker position
• Monday to Friday, 7:00am 11:00am
• September start (or sooner if available)
• Responsible for opening the school site each morning
• Carrying out basic maintenance and health & safety checks
• Ensuring the school grounds and buildings are clean, secure and well-presented
• Liaising with school staff and contractors when required
• Opportunity for additional hours during school holidays

• Community primary school with nursery provision in Hertford
• Educates children aged 3 11 years
• Good-sized primary school with over 300 pupils on roll
• Rated Good by Ofsted following its most recent inspection in December 2023, with inspectors recognising strengths in education, behaviour, personal development and leadership

• Previous site, caretaker, maintenance or facilities experience (preferred but not essential)
• A practical and proactive approach to problem-solving
• Good awareness of health and safety responsibilities
• The ability to work independently and manage priorities effectively
• Reliability, flexibility and a strong work ethic
• A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
