Games Design and IT Lecturer – Temporary – 20 Hours per Week – Ware & Broxbourne
£30.83 to £33.02 per hour
We are recruiting a Games Design and IT Lecturer to work at Hertford Regional College (HRC), delivering Level 2 and Level 3 Games Design and IT programmes.

About the RoleWe are looking for a knowledgeable and enthusiastic Games Design and IT Lecturer who can confidently teach students across Level 2 and Level 3 Games Design and IT courses.
The successful candidate will be able to engage learners with a range of abilities and experience, combining practical and theoretical teaching to help students develop the skills and knowledge required to progress within further education, higher education or employment.
The role is offered on a temporary, ongoing basis for 20 hours per week during term time.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver engaging and effective lessons across Level 2 and Level 3 Games Design and IT programmes.
- Teach a range of relevant Games Design and IT topics in line with the curriculum and awarding-body requirements.
- Support students in developing practical, creative and technical skills.
- Where appropriate, introduce students to relevant games development software, game engines, digital design tools and IT applications.
- Plan and prepare lessons and learning materials appropriate to different learner abilities.
- Assess student work and provide constructive and timely feedback to support progression and achievement.
- Monitor learner progress and provide additional support where required.
- Encourage students to develop employability skills and an understanding of current practices within the games and IT industries.
- Complete the necessary assessment, marking and administrative duties associated with the programmes.
- Contribute positively to curriculum development and maintain current knowledge of developments within Games Design, IT and digital technologies.
- Knowledge and practical experience relevant to Games Design and IT.
- The ability and confidence to teach learners at Level 2 and Level 3.
- An understanding of relevant games design/development software and digital technologies.
- Good IT and computing knowledge.
- Strong communication and organisational skills.
- The ability to engage, motivate and support learners with differing levels of experience and ability.
- A commitment to providing a high-quality learner experience.
Previous teaching, training or mentoring experience would be advantageous, although applications are also welcomed from industry professionals who have the appropriate subject knowledge and are interested in moving into further education.
QualificationsIdeally, you will hold a relevant qualification in Games Design, Computing, IT, Digital Technologies or a related subject.
A recognised teaching qualification is desirable; however, candidates who are willing to work towards a teaching qualification will also be considered, with support available.
HRG Compliance Process- In-person proof of address verification at the Ware/Broxbourne Campus.
- Enhanced DBS application, administered by HRG at a cost of £65.20, unless you already hold an Enhanced DBS registered with the Update Service.
- Two years of professional/character references, which will be obtained and verified.
- Completion of several online training modules as stipulated by HRC.
