Overview
We are looking for experienced Electricians with proven utility-scale Solar PV experience to join our renewable energy project team. The role involves installation, termination, testing and commissioning support of DC and AC systems across large-scale solar farm developments - This is a fully mobile role as the sites could be anywhere in the UK.
Please note:
this position is specifically for candidates with previous Solar PV or renewable energy project experience. Applicants with domestic-only experience will not be considered.
Key Responsibilities
Carry out installation, termination and testing of DC string cabling from solar modules through to combiner boxes and inverters, ensuring correct polarity, identification and labelling in accordance with project drawings and specifications.
Install, pull, cleat and terminate LV and MV cables within trenches, containment systems and substations, including connection of inverters, transformers and associated AC collection systems. Assist with installation of switch gear, protection panels, control wiring and SCADA cabling where required.
Support testing and commissioning activities including continuity testing, insulation resistance testing, earth testing and verification of completed works. Assist with inverter energisation and fault finding under supervision.
Read and interpret electrical drawings, cable schedules and schematics, ensuring all work is completed to required standards and within programme deadlines. Maintain accurate installation records and support completion of quality and handover documentation.
Work in strict compliance with site health and safety requirements, including safe isolation procedures, permit systems and environmental regulations. Maintain a clean and safe working area at all times.
Essential Requirements
* Proven experience working on utility-scale Solar PV projects
* Experience with LV and/or MV cable installation and terminations
* Understanding of DC systems and AC export infrastructure
* Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings
* Experience working on construction sites
Qualifications
Recognised Electrical Qualification (NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds or equivalent), ECS/CSCS card and preferably 18th Edition Wiring Regulations certification. Additional testing qualifications or MV authorisation would be advantageous.
Working Environment
Site-based role on large-scale solar projects, working outdoors and travelling to project locations as required
