The Company

A specialist technical engineering consultancy based in Hertfordshire, delivering complex building services solutions across highly regulated and mission‑critical environments.

The business is recognised for its expertise in pharmaceutical and data centre projects, working with global clients to deliver high-performance, compliant, and resilient electrical infrastructure across the full project lifecycle — from concept design through to commissioning.

Due to continued project wins and growth, they are now looking to appoint a Graduate Electrical Design Engineer to join their expanding design team.

Role Overview

As a Graduate Electrical Design Engineer, you will support the design and delivery of electrical building services systems across technically challenging projects. You'll gain exposure to mission‑critical environments where reliability, compliance, and performance are paramount.

You'll work closely with senior engineers and multidisciplinary teams, receiving structured mentoring and hands‑on project involvement from day one.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the design of electrical building services systems including:
    • Power distribution
    • Lighting design
    • UPS & standby power systems
    • Earthing & lightning protection
    • Containment & cable routing
  • Produce electrical calculations and design documentation
  • Support the development of schematics, layouts, and technical drawings
  • Use design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, and Amtech/Dialux (training provided if needed)
  • Attend design meetings and collaborate with mechanical and project teams
  • Assist with site surveys and inspections
  • Ensure designs meet industry standards and client specifications
  • Support commissioning and handover phases where required

  • Pharmaceutical manufacturing facilities
  • Clean rooms & laboratory environments
  • Mission‑critical data centres
  • High‑spec technical engineering installations
  • Regulated and GMP‑compliant facilities
Candidate Requirements
  • Degree qualified in:
    • Electrical Engineering, or
    • Building Services Engineering (Electrical bias)
  • Strong academic background
  • Understanding of electrical design fundamentals
Desirable (Not Essential)
  • Placement year or internship experience
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD or Revit
  • Knowledge of data centre or pharma environments
  • Understanding of UK building regulations and standards
