Overview

Are you passionate about supporting children with speech, language and communication needs? We have an exciting opportunity for a dynamic, enthusiastic, and creative Band 6 Speech and Language Therapist (SLT) to join our friendly, well‑established East team based at Hertford County Hospital. This full‑time post offers access to specialist support and opportunities to develop your clinical expertise.

In this role, you'll work up to 2 days per week at Middleton School in Ware, supporting children with learning difficulties. The rest of the week will be spent working with children and young people across a range of community settings including clinics and mainstream schools.

Responsibilities
  • Work as part of an MDT within Middleton School in Ware, collaborating with the wider CYP Team and teaching staff.
  • Provide assessment and intervention tailored to the needs of children and young people across community settings.
  • Use specialist skills in DLD, speech sound disorder, stammering and social communication to support children.
  • Collaborate with other professionals to deliver evidence‑based episodes of care.
  • Participate in regular group supervision, managerial supervision and a well‑established appraisal system.
  • Engage in CPD opportunities such as Bitesize tutorials, peer review and locally hosted CENs for DLD and ASD.
  • Develop leadership skills and supervise less experienced members of staff.
  • Receive a 2‑week induction period that includes observation, shadowing, and access to a buddy.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Band 6 qualification and registration as a Speech and Language Therapist.
  • Enthusiastic, motivated, with strong communication and organisational skills.
  • Good clinical reasoning and the ability to work autonomously while being a team player.
  • Experience in collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and delivering community‑based services.
  • Desire to champion the needs of patients and pursue specialist development.

  • High Cost Area Supplement of 5% of basic salary (minimum £1,258, maximum £2,122 per annum, pro‑rata).
