Senior Buyer (Infrastructure)

£60K+ - DOE
We are supporting an established infrastructure contractor with the appointment of a Senior Buyer into its procurement function.
The business delivers major projects across the power, utilities and digital infrastructure sectors and is looking for experienced procurement professionals who can take ownership of project procurement while working closely with operational and commercial teams.
The RoleYou will take responsibility for procurement across a range of infrastructure projects, covering materials, equipment, services and subcontract requirements.
Key responsibilities will include:- Managing procurement activity from initial requirement through sourcing, negotiation, order placement and delivery
- Leading commercial negotiations with suppliers and securing competitive terms
- Managing key supplier relationships and monitoring performance
- Identifying and managing supply-chain risks that could impact project delivery
- Taking ownership of allocated procurement categories
- Working closely with project, commercial, operational and finance teams
- Monitoring market conditions, pricing and availability
- Supporting supplier selection, onboarding and performance reviews
- Expediting critical orders against project programmes
- Providing guidance and support to more junior members of the procurement team
Due to project wins and workload pipelines, the client is looking to move quickly with this requirement.
About YouWe are interested in speaking with experienced Buyers and Senior Buyers from infrastructure, utilities, power, engineering or construction environments.
You will ideally have:- Strong end-to-end procurement experience within a project-led environment
- Experience procuring technical electrical and mechanical equipment, materials and associated services for major infrastructure projects
- Good knowledge of relevant manufacturers, suppliers and specialist supply chains
- Strong commercial and supplier negotiation skills
- Experience managing key suppliers and supply-chain performance
- An understanding of project programmes, lead times and procurement risk
- Confidence working with operational, commercial and project stakeholders
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills along with experience using procurement systems and Excel
- MCIPS or working towards.
- Experience working with international supply chains would also be advantageous.
