Laboratory Technician

ROLE OVERVIEW

We are currently looking for a Laboratory Technician (Cell Biology Support) to join a leading biotechnology research company based in the UK. This is an exciting opportunity for a proactive and detail-oriented individual to contribute to the daily operations of a busy research laboratory focused on cutting-edge cell biology projects. The successful candidate will play a vital role in supporting routine laboratory activities, maintaining essential supplies, and ensuring a safe and organized working environment.

This role offers a chance to work within a dynamic team committed to scientific innovation, with potential for long-term extension or a permanent position.

• Support routine laboratory activities, including assisting with mycoplasma testing and maintaining compliance with health and safety standards.
• Manage and monitor laboratory equipment and consumables, including changing CO2 gas cylinders and maintaining stock levels.
• Raise purchase orders and coordinate the procurement of laboratory supplies to ensure smooth daily operations.
• Handle laboratory waste disposal, decontaminate equipment, and maintain a clean and organized laboratory environment.
• Support general housekeeping activities and assist scientists with ad hoc laboratory tasks to ensure seamless research workflows.

• A Degree or higher level in a relevant scientific field (e.g., Life Sciences, Biology, Biotechnology).
• Proven experience working within a laboratory environment, supporting cell culture activities advantageous.
• Good understanding of laboratory health and safety procedures and experience handling laboratory consumables, stock management, and ordering.
