Senior Software Engineer – Test Systems

The Opportunity

This is an exciting opportunity to join my Client as a Senior Software Engineer joining Test Software UK, where you’ll play a key role in advancing both the technology and your career.

Test Software UK works closely with Electronic Engineering, the Test Centre of Excellence, and Software Engineering to deliver the Company's test capability. The mission is to enable robust, timely testing of systems, ensuring the company continues to deliver decisive military capability for the UK and its allies.

The team supports a wide and diverse portfolio of projects that directly influence product certification, manufacturing output, and in-service support. They develop and maintain software solutions that interface with test equipment hardware to configure, verify, and validate the company's UK products — from early development, through production, and into field test environments.

They are a multi-disciplinary, agile, and highly motivated team, specialising in complete test solution design, including software, hardware, simulation, and real-time systems.

What You’ll Be Doing

* Developing and supporting mission-critical test software used across development, production, and field testing

* Designing reliable, high-performance, well-documented software that integrates with test equipment hardware

* Working collaboratively with Systems Engineering, Electronics, Electrical, and Test & Validation teams

* Contributing to the verification and validation of complex defence systems

* Solving technical challenges that go beyond pure software, including hardware and system-level considerations

What We’re Looking For

* A Software Engineer or Electronics Engineer with strong transferable skills into software development for test solutions

* Proven experience developing software in C, C++ or Ada (or strong motivation to develop expertise in these languages)

* Excellent analytical, design, and review skills, with the ability to critically assess solutions

* A flexible, proactive, “can-do” attitude, comfortable tackling complex and novel problems

* Interest in working on time-critical and mission-critical systems

* Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with a range of technical stakeholder.
