Personal Assistant

This is an external vacancy and is not employment with East Riding of Yorkshire Council.

Gentleman in his mid 20s with Down Syndrome (high functioning) requires Personal Assistant to take him out and about to social activities of his choice. Is very independent of his needs but vulnerable. Hence needs supervision and guidance when out and about in the community.

No support required around personal care and no mobility problems. Requires someone to take him out socially for example to football matches, he enjoys cinema, bowling and going to Hull Red youth group once per week.

Gentleman needs encouragement to socialise in the first instance but once he feels comfortable and safe he does enjoy this. He can struggle with time of day and money issues so needs prompts and reassurance around this also.

Must be car driver to take him out and about.

DBS/Reference checks will be required for this post – Cost to be met by the local authority.

The Direct Payments Support Service is an in-house service provided by the East Riding of Yorkshire Council. The service promotes independent choice and inclusion, allowing our service users to employ their own care and support as needed. We support many individuals with varying abilities, assisting with advertising and recruitment for a range of roles including support workers, carers and personal assistants.

Some travel across East Riding of Yorkshire may be required, applicants must be able to transport themselves.
