The role
We are recruiting a Pastoral Mentor to support pupils within a large secondary school in Northumberland
. This role focuses on behaviour, attendance, emotional regulation, and engagement
, working closely with the school’s pastoral and safeguarding teams.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a background in pastoral care, youth work, social care, or behaviour support

Northumberland | Well-connected market town location — £110 – £130 per day | PAYE | Depending on experience

Provide 1:1 and small-group pastoral support
Support pupils with SEMH, behaviour, and attendance needs
Help pupils regulate emotions and re-engage with learning
Liaise with teachers, pastoral leads, and SEN staff
Contribute to a safe and supportive school environment
Experience in pastoral, youth work, education, or care settings
Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills
Calm, resilient, and consistent approach
Confident working with vulnerable young people
Open to short-term or long-term placements
PAYE only – no umbrella companies
Competitive daily rates paid weekly
Specialist consultants with pastoral/SEN expertise

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
