Pastoral Mentor

The role

We are recruiting a Pastoral Mentor to support pupils within a large secondary school in Northumberland
. This role focuses on behaviour, attendance, emotional regulation, and engagement
, working closely with the school’s pastoral and safeguarding teams.

Northumberland | Well-connected market town location — £110 – £130 per day | PAYE | Depending on experience

• Established 11–18 secondary school with strong pastoral systems

• Clear behaviour policies and supportive leadership

• Focus on inclusion, wellbeing, and positive relationships

• Located in a well-connected market town

• Rail and bus links to Newcastle and surrounding areas

• On-site parking available

• Provide 1:1 and small-group pastoral support

• Support pupils with SEMH, behaviour, and attendance needs

• Help pupils regulate emotions and re-engage with learning

• Liaise with teachers, pastoral leads, and SEN staff

• Contribute to a safe and supportive school environment

• Experience in pastoral, youth work, education, or care settings

• Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills

• Calm, resilient, and consistent approach

• Confident working with vulnerable young people

• Open to short-term or long-term placements

• PAYE only – no umbrella companies

• Competitive daily rates paid weekly

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
