Summary: The post holder will work at Cygnet Hexham and will be based on either Fisher or Franklin ward.

Cygnet Hospital Hexham is our 27-bed mental health facility for women with complex mental health needs spanning two wards. Fisher Ward is a 17-bed acute service for women with complex mental health needs and Franklin Ward is a 10-bed PICU service for women which accepts emergency and crisis admissions. The hospital is built to meet the latest national specifications for improving mental health within a therapeutic environment.
Situated amongst the Tyne valley, the hospital will provide an important service for service users within the North East of England.
As part of our continued efforts to improve service user care and treatment pathways, the hospital will benefit from a highly experienced team of mental health professionals and support staff, including consultant psychiatrists, psychologists, nurses across RMN and RGN disciplines, occupational therapists, and support workers.
Positive service user outcomes are at the heart of the services we offer at Cygnet Hospital Hexham. We recognise that every service user is different and must be assessed and treated as an individual in the best possible surroundings.
The post holder will be supervised by the Regional Lead Occupational Therapist for the North East.
Occupational Therapy DirectorateUnder the leadership of our occupational therapy directors we support over 185 Occupational Therapists and over 300 OT support staff. Working together as a large team we provide support to each other across the group, with the opportunity to be part of specialist interest groups and become involved in service development. Each service line has a clinical lead occupational therapist to lead and develop evidence-based practice and agreed occupational therapy pathway.
We ensure our occupational therapy team members have a voice through participating in service model development, utilising the expertise and support of our clinical lead occupational therapists.
We understand the pandemic has brought challenging times, and we recognise this may have had an impact on some placement experiences. We offer an Occupational Therapy 12-month preceptorship programme to support and consolidate core Occupational Therapy skills.

Requirements
